CHAPT 19

Dovepelt padded into Jayfeather's den, hoping he was awake so she could tell her about her dream. She focused her powers inot the medicine cat's body and heard him breathing rhythmically. She cursed herself silently for not coming to see him earlier. She decided that the clans' safety was more important than Jayfeather's wrath.
"Jayfeather, I hvae something important to tell you." Dovepelt whispered into his ear so Willowpelt wouldn't wake as well.
"What? Is something wrong, is someone hurt?" Jayfeather's fur began to bristle as he quickly got up in alarm.
"No, I need to talk to you, Yellowfang and Foxleap came to me in a dream. I need to talk to you alone." She pleaded.
"Fine, meet me by the lake. I'm going to eat then I'll be down there, I have to collect some burdock root anyways." He sniffed the air," Where are your kits?"
"I asked Ashfoot to take care of them, Sheepkit and Hedgekit really like to play together, while Honeykit and Foxkit get into trouble with Petalkit!" She purred with amusement. She flicked her tail over Jayfeather's ear in a silent good-bye.
She padded towards the nursery. She checked her kits were okay and padded out of the nursery.
"Where ya' going? Can we come too?" Stonekit stumbled out of the nursery after his mother.
"No, not this time my kits. Why don't you bring fresh kill to the elders and maybe they'll tell you a story." Dovepelt suggested.
"Yeah! I want to hear the story of when Lionclan ruled the forest!" Stonekit proclaimed.
"I want to hear the story of how Firestar saved Thunderclan from the dog pack!" Snowkit squeaked.
"Well I'm going to bring Puddlesplash and Heavystep the biggest squirrel they've ever seen!" Duskkit announced.
"Nu' 'uh! I will!" Honeykit challenged. All six of the kits sped past her, towards the fresh kill pile. Dovepelt purred happily, her worries forgotten for the time being, while she watched her kits stumble, each carrying a part of the huge squirrel they carried. She heard Foxkit exclaim when Stonekit dropped his part, and saw Duskkit stumble over the fluffy tail. She sighed and padded through the gorse tunnel.
