Chapt 17

Dovepelt padded to the fresh kill pile, still pondering what to do about what Foxleap and Yellowfang told her. She knew she had to tell the leaders, but would she belive her. She was only a warrior, not a medidcine cat. Maybe if she told Jayfeather about it, he could tell Bramblestar. She deciceded she would tell him when he came back from the moon pool with Willowshine.
"Twigkit! Stop pushing Duskkit! She's not big enough to play so rough!" Dovepelt heard Whitewing's mew come from the nursery. She picked up a few mice for her and the other queens. Her 6 kits had made the nursery crowded and needed to be expanded. Heathertail and Bumblestripe were busy weaving more brambles and twigs into the walls of the camp.
"Thanks for watching them, I've been so tired these past few days." Doveplt murmured her thanks to Whitewing. The white queen looked over all the kits in the nursery as if they were her own, especially Twigkit, Leafkit, Maplekit, and Rainkit.  Doveplt wondered once the clans seperated where the kits would go, with their birth clan or with their adopted mother? Squirrelflight looked up as Dovepelt placed a mouse by her side.
"Where are Firekit and Sandkit?" Dovepelt knew her kits never left their mother's side.
"They went to the elder's den to hear stories. Those elders better not scare them with stories about dogs and foxes. That's all we need kits that won't sleep because their afraid an animal is going to get them!" She snorted as she heaved her self to her paws and padded to the elder's den. Dovepelt wandered over to Whitewing again.
"Are my kits with the elders too?" Dovepelt sighed.
"No, I think their with Maplekit, playing catch the feather with Leafpool near the medicine clearing." Whitewing nodded to the medicine den. Dovepelt got to her paws and walked out of the nursery as Whitewing added,"If you see Twigkit and Leafkit, tell them to come to the nursery, they need to eat!" Dovepelt twitched her ears to show she had heard. She padded across the clearing and entered the medidcine clearing.
"Dovepelt!" Six voices yelled. Her kits scampered to her, and tackled her over.
"Leafpool gave us some honey! It was so good!" Gingerkit purred.
"Yeah, and she showed us some herbs and told us what they do!" Hedgekit mewed excitedly.
"I only showed them some sweet smelling herbs, poppy seeds, and like they said, I gave them honey." Leafpool padded up to the 7 cats.
"Well they certainly sound like they had a good time!" Dovepelt purred.
"I wanna' play with Leafpool everyday!" Stonekit purred.
"Me too!" Honeykit jumped on her brother.
"Thanks for watching them, I hope they weren't too much of a hassle." Dovepelt murmured to Leafpool while trying to untangle her self from the mass of kits.
"No problem at all, Honeykit is good at remembering the herbs." Leafpool commented.
Dovepelt nodded contently at her kits scuffling in the grass, and wished life could always be like this. She knew that life wasn't like this, somewhere out there the Dark Forest was planning to attack again. She knew for the sake of her kits that she had to tell Bramblestar.

Chapt 16

“Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the Highledge for a clan meeting!” Jayfeather heard Bramblestar’s voice ring out over the clearing. He padded out of his den, nearly bumping into Lionblaze.

“Come on, Bramblestar has called a meeting.” Lionblaze mewed.

“I may be blind, but I’m not deaf yet!” Jayfeather spat. He followed Lionblaze out in to the clearing. He sat next to Hollyleaf and Whitewing. Whitewing was busy cleaning Snakekit and Frogkit to speak so Jayfeather turned to Hollyleaf.

“Do you know what this is about?” Jayfeather asked.

“I don’t know, but all the clan leaders are on the Highledge.” Hollyleaf spoke. Jayfeather spread his senses to the clearing and sensed anticipation coming off Bramblestar and the new Shadowclan leader, Rowanstar.

“Bramblestar is stepping back for Rowanstar,” Hollyleaf whispered in his ear,” I think Rowanstar has something to say.”

“Would Snakekit and Frogkit please step forward,” The Shadowclan leader spoke,” Since Shadowclan has lost many brave warriors after this battle, Bramblestar and Mistystar have agreed to make their warriors mentors to these to apprentices.” Jayfeather was shocked, he sure this had never been done before.

“Lionblaze, you have the courage of the great cat that has given you your name, I hope that you pass down all that you know to young Frogpaw.” This time Bramblestar spoke. Jayfeather heard a shrill squeak of excitement next to him and a small scurrying of paws. He heard Lionblaze get up instantly at his name and pad over to the young cat. Jayfeather knew they would touch noses.

“Reedwhisker, you have shown the thoughtfulness and bravery, both have made you great warrior. I hope that you pass down all that you know to Snakepaw,” Mistystar mewed. Jayfeather did not hear the squeak he heard the first time, but heard the apprentice jump up-and-down.

“Snakepaw! Frogpaw! Snakepaw! Frogpaw!” Cheers erupted from the cats.

Jayfeather went over and congratulated the two new apprentices.

“We have more news to announce,” Onestar’s voice called out, “Flametail and Kestrelflight both died in the battle, so now we are without two medicine cats. When the clans separate, Windclan and Shadowclan will need a medicine cat. I think Willowshine and Jayfeather should go and share tongues with Starclan.”

“It is the half moon tomorrow,” Willowshine murmured.

“I agree, what is a clan without a medicine cat?” Bramblestar mewed.

“Then it’s settled, we’ll leave tomorrow.” Jayfeather yelled up to the clan leaders.

Willowshine and Jayfeather picked their way out of the clearing, trying not to disturb the sleeping cats.

“You wouldn’t even know we were four clans 2 moons ago.” Willowshine murmured.

“The only difference is scent, and that is starting to smell the same too,” Jayfeather added.

It was true, the clans were getting along better than Jayfeather had suspected, except from the bickering from the elders.

“I hope we get some sign about the other medicine cats.” Willowshine whispered. Jayfeather nodded in agreement. They raced towards Windclan territory, running through the heather and over the hills. They arrived at the Moonpool before dusk and settled down before going to into the cave.

“We made good time,” Willowshine sighed.

“Yes, faster without waiting for the other medicine cats to show.” Jayfeather mewed. He could feel his pelt getting colder from the falling sun, so he suggested they go inside. They traveled to the cave and the dimpled stone made his whiskers twitch in anticipation. He lay in his spot before lapping up the cool water. He opened his eyes and saw a ginger starry cat in front of him.

“Firestar!” Jayfeather stood up and licked his former leader’s ear.

“Jayfeather,” Firestar’s voice was firm but Jayfeather could tell he too was excited about seeing his former clanmate.

“Jayfeather, Shadowclan and Windclan need a medicine cat. You must train an apprentice for the other two clans. They have not been born yet, and Starclan will show you the kit who will be your apprentice.” Firestar explained carefully.

“I’ll do my best,” Jayfeather dipped his head to Firestar as the starry cat faded away.

Jayfeather woke to darkness and heard Willowshine get up and stretch.

“Firestar told me to wait for the birth of a kit to train. He said Starclan would show me who to train.” Jayfeather padded next to Willowshine.

“Leopardstar showed me the same thing.” Willowshine yawned.

“How long do you think it will be?” Jayfeather wondered.

“The only queen in the nursery that hasn’t kitted is Cinderheart, but I don’t think Starclan would have a kit from another clan go into another clan. Maybe there is a she-cat who is pregnant but doesn’t know it.” Willowshine suggested.

“There must be two, from each clan.” Jayfeather assumed.

“When we get back to camp we should check all the she-cats, from every clan, just to be safe.” Willowshine mewed to Jayfeather.

“That’s what I was thinking.” Jayfeather walked next to the she-cat. He hoped the kits would be shown to them soon, the clans needed medicine cats, fast.

Chapt 15

Lionblaze poked his head into the nursery again.

“Willowshine said that Dovepelt had six kits?” Lionblaze knew it was strange for so many kits to be born to a single queen at one time.

Jayfeather padded out of the nursery, ” Yes and their all healthy, including Dovepelt. She didn’t lose too much blood and now she sleeping. She’ll need food when she wakes up.”

“The nursery is getting bigger every day,” Lionblaze commented. He felt his chest swelling with pride. Cinderheart was in the nursery, pregnant with his kits,” We’ll need to expand it before Cinderheart kits.” He would have to remember to tell Bumblestripe, the acting deputy while Cinderheart was in the nursery, that the nursery would need to be expanded. He padded to Bumblestripe as he heard his name called.

“Could you go on a hunting patrol with Cedarpaw, Reedwhisker, and Heathertail?” Bumblestripe asked Lionblaze.

“Sure,” Lionblaze wanted to go on patrol, but he didn’t want to go with Heathertail. They had played together as apprentices in the tunnels under their territories. When Lionblaze told her they had to stop seeing each other she had taken it badly. He had avoided her until now, sleeping on the other side of the warriors den, going on different patrols, and generally staying away from her.

“Let’s go, I want to catch a fish in the river, these forest animals are not to my liking,” Reedwhisker’s whiskered twitched with amusement.

“Yeah, I want to catch a rabbit on the moor!” Heathertail exclaimed, “I’m tired of all these tree blocking the sun, I want to feel the wind tugging my fur!” She raced ahead of the patrol.

“Stay with the patrol! You don’t want to get lost!” Lionblaze yelled after her. He looked at the patrol, shrugged and raced after her. “I’m going to hunt on my own, you can go where you want, just stay within earshot.” Lionblaze mewed.

He angled his ears towards a birch tree, listening for the scuffling of prey. He dropped into a hunters couch as he heard a mouse cracking open a nut with its teeth. His tail was straight out behind him, careful not to make a noise he bunched his leg muscles to jump. He pounced a fox-length away, tossing the mouse up in the air and killing it with a quick bite. He landed on his side. Not the most graceful kill, but it would feed the clan. Clans, he corrected himself. He buried his kill and set out for the moor. He hadn’t tasted rabbit for a while and wanted to bring home a big kill for Dovepelt and her kits. The tree line behind him, he sniffed the air searching for the familiar scent of rabbit. There! He could see nothing but the white puff of the tail. He crouched low and crept forward, slowly, not to disturb the heather behind him. The wind was in front of him, blowing the scent of rabbit in his nose. Suddenly the rabbit took off across the moor. Lionblaze took off after it, but he found he was too slow. Another shape raced across the Moorland and Lionblaze recognized the sleek figure of a cat. It overtook the rabbit, killing it swiftly. It was Heathertail. Lionblaze cursed himself for not catching the rabbit when Heathertail was watching him.

“Good catch.” Lionblaze shouted halfheartedly.

“Thanks,” Heathertail murmured, padding next to him,” You know, I’m not mad at you anymore. I know what we did in the tunnels was wrong, but I want to be your friend. It’s not against the warrior code now because we live in the same clan.” She added quickly,” I’m glad you and Cinderheart are having kits.”

“Thanks,” Lionblaze mewed. He didn’t know what to say, so he tilted his ears to the left, signaling to Heathertail there was prey there. They padded into two directions to cut the prey off at one point. It was a rabbit by the smell of it.

Lionblaze was behind the rabbit, which was two tail lengths in front of him under a thick wall of heather. Heathertail stood in front of it, just out of sight behind a bush. Lionblaze crept forward, then took off running full speed to the rabbit, it swerved to the left, catching Lionblaze off guard, But Heathertail was ready. She came out of the bush running, faster than any forest cat, and quickly killed the rabbit.

“Great!” Lionblaze purred. The clans would eat well tonight. “Now let’s go in the forest and catch some slower prey!”

When they returned to camp, Lionblaze and Heathertail had caught two rabbits, 3 mice, and 4 chaffinches. The others in the patrol had done equally as well, Reedwhisker caught 3 fish and 2 water voles, Cedarpaw caught 3 mice and a squirrel. The clan leaders told them they had done well and had first pick to the fresh kill pile. Lionblaze chose a rabbit to share with Cinderheart and brought another for Dovepelt and Squirrelflight.

“I hope one of those is for us!” Dovepelt purred as he walked into the nursery.

“Of course, this one is for you and Squirrelflight and this one is for me and Cinderheart.” Lionblaze mewed as he looked at his kit-heavy mate. Kits tumbled over his paws giggling and tussling.

“I’m going to be the best fighter in all of Thunderclan!” A small ginger she-kit proclaimed.

Her litter mate refused to be outdone,” And I’m going to be the best hunter!”

“Firekit, Sandkit, get over here! It’s time for bed!” Squirrelflight mewed. Lionblaze couldn’t help but purr as the kits slunk back to their mother.

“Where are your kits?” Lionblaze asked Dovepelt.

“Cedarpaw and Cherrypaw are showing them the apprentices den, Whitewing is watching them too. Snakekit and Frogkit will be moving in there soon. The poor apprentices have to watch 8 kits!” Dovepelt mewed.

“Are you going to sit there and gossip all day or am I going to get to eat?” Cinderheart’s amused purr made him spin around. He padded over with the rabbit.

“How many do you think are in there?” Cinderheart mewed looking into his eyes then back at her growing stomach.

“I don’t know, all I know is I’ll love them all, no matter how many there are.” Lionblaze mewed in her ear.

“I hope it’s three,” Cinderheart sighed taking a bite of rabbit.

“How long until you start kitting?” Lionblaze wanted it to be soon, he wanted to go hunting with her again.

“Jayfeather says half a moon at the most,” She replied, still looking at her belly. They finished the rabbit and Lionblaze licked her behind the ear. He said good-bye to the other queens and walked to the medicine clearing.

Chapt 14

"I can't do this anymore!" Dovepelt's voice rang out in the clearing. She had given birth to 3 healthy kits, and Jayfeather said she still had 3 more!
"Yes you can. Foxleap is here, helping you and the kits." Jayfeather mewed encouragingly.
"How is she?" Lionblazes head popped into the nursery.
"She still has atleast 3 more coming, and she needs water, go get some now!" Jayfeather mewed back.He turned back to Dovepelt,"Okay, I'm going to need you to push... Now!" A spasm gripped her body and she pushed with all her might. A slippery bundle slid out onto the bedding and Jayfeather nipped the sack and pushed the kit towards Willowshine to lick.
"Good. Now push again." Willowshine mewed. Dovepelt pushed again and another bundle came onto the grass.
"Your doing great, Foxleap would be proud." Bramblestar's voice made Dovepelt turned to see him pad into the nursery.
"Aah!" Another jolt of pain ran down her body. "Thanks." Was all she could say with clenched teeth.
"Just one more push," Jayfeather murmurmed. A fresh wave of pain slid down her sides as she pushed.
"Congratulations, you have 6 healthy kits." Willowshine's eyes glowed.
"What will you name them?" Squirrelflight asked. She had given birth to 2 kits the day before.
"I'll name the red kit, Foxkit. The white fluffy she-cat will be Snowkit, and the smallest one is Stonekit." She paused to think about the last three names, " The tortoiseshell she-cat will be Honeykit, the white tom with the black tipped tail is Hedgekit. The blue gray she-cat is Duskkit."
Dovepelt was overjoyed with her kits. The whole camp seemed to be in a flutter.8 new kits born in the past 2 days, with more on the way with Cinderheart in the nursery. The other clans had adjusted to the Thunderclan camp.
"Will I have enough milk?" Dovepelt asked Jayfeather.
"You should, you ate a lot of borage before your kitting, but you should eat more. Willowshine, can you get me borage from my stores?" Jayfeather turned to the Riverclan medicine cat.
"Of course," Willowshine walked out of the nursery.
"When can they play?" Twigkit tottered over to Dovepelt.
"Not for awhile," Whitewing replied, padding over to where Dovepelt was lieing down,"They're beautiful. They'll make great warriors one day."
"Thanks," Dovepelt said, stiffling a yawn.
"You should sleep, you had a long kitting." Jayfeather mewed.
Dovepelt felt her eyes closing and sunk off into a dream.

"Dovepelt, Dovepelt open your eyes," a familiar voice murmured.
"It can't be time to wake up," Dovepelt mewed, opening her eyes. The cat she saw laying beside her was a reddish brown tom with stars in his pelt.
"Foxleap! Oh, Foxleap I missed you so much! Did you see our kits?" Dovepelt felt overjoyed looking at her mate again.
"Yes, I've seen them. They're the most beautiful kits, Dovepelt I wish I could meet them. But this is not why I have come," Foxleap got up gestured with his tail that she should follow. He jumped through some  heather and Starclan's camp opened up. Starry cats touched noses with each other.
"The prophecy is not over yet," Foxleap mewed stopping infront of a gray she-cat with a pushed in face.
"Yellowfang, Dovepelt is here." He mewed to the she-cat.She got up and walked over to Foxleap and Dovepelt."As i said before, the prophecy is not over yet." Foxleap repeated.
"What do you mean, shouldn't you be sending this message to Jayfeather?" Dovepelt was shocked to be sent such an important message from Starclan. Foxleap looked hurt," Not that I'm not greatful, but I don't understand." She explained.
"The Dark Forest is going to strike again sooner than you think, the clans must be ready. Train all cats more and more or all will be lost. The Dark Forest is not as strong as the first attack but they outnumber the clans. Train elders and kits. Tell your leaders as soon as you wake up. Starclan will help you," Yellowfang explained quickly.
"There will be five who will bring the 4 to1." Foxleap's voice wrang in her ears as the Starclan cats faded away.

Chapt 13

Jayfeather padded through the Shadowclan nursery, a kit clamped in his jaws.
"I can walk on my own! I don't want to be carried!" Frogkit hissed.
"You'll do as your told. It'll be faster if I carry you." Jayfeather murmurmed to the squirming kit.
They were leaving the Shadowclan camp and returning to Thunderclan. Dawnflight had returned with another survivor, Rainkit, a riverclan kit. He was barely 1 moon old and needed food quickly. Russetfur explained quickly what was going on and they were off.
"Has Firestar brought all the clans to your camp?" Tawnypelt padded up to him and Lionblaze.
"Firestar died. Bramblestar is our leader now," Lionblaze murmured quietly. Jayfeather felt both grief and excitement flow off Tawnypelt.
"He died saving Cinderheart from Tigerstar, then killed him.. He died from his injuries." Lionblaze explained.
"You know I killed one of your clanmates.. S-she attacked me and said this was her territory now. I didn't want to, but she was going to kill me." Jayfeather knew only of one of her clanmates that was on the  Dark Forest's side. Ivyshade. Dovepelt's sister had turned evil under the guidance of Tigerstar and Hawkfrost,
"You killed Ivyshade. She attacked her sister, Dovepelt too." Lionblaze mentioned.
They trotted in silence as they neared Thunderclan territory.
Jayfeather gave Frogkit to Tawnypelt and dashed to the front of the patrol.
"It'll be like one big clan now." Jayfeather heard Lionblaze pad up to him.
"With 4 leaders." Jayfeather added dryly. He dropped back to the apprentice, Gingerpaw.
"Are there apprentices in your camp?" Gingerpaw asked Jayfeather.
"Two. Cedarpaw and Cherrypaw were apprenticed yesterday. I don't know if Windclan brought any." Jayfeather added,"Plus there are a lot of kits ready to be apprenticed. Who is your mentor?"
"Weaselfur was my mentor, he died fighting a Dark Forest warrior." Gingerpaw mewed quietly. Jayfeather flicked his tail on the apprentice's shoulder for comfort, but the Shadowclan cat shrugged it away. They approached the camp and Windclan scent hit his mouth. They're here, hopefully Leafpool and Willowshine have looked for any serious injuries. Jayfeather thought to himself as he padded into the clearing. Now all four clan were in his camp and it seemed like an actual clan. Kits were playing and apprentices were play fighting in the grass, elders told stories and senior warriors discussed battles.

Chapt 12

Lionblaze twined tail with Cinderheart before leaving through the gorse tunnel.
"Be careful! You don't know what you'll find when you get there!" Cinderheart's called as Lionblaze left with Jayfeather. Her voice made his pelt grow hot.
They were going to find if there were any Shadowclan survivors. Lionblaze had his doubts, they hadn't seen a Shadowclan patrol in days, he thought they might be wiped out completely or too hurt to move.
"You really like her, huh?" Jayfeather padded next to him.
"Who?" Lionblaze eyed him jokingly.
"Cinderheart, mouse-brain!" Jayfeather tapped him on the shoulder with mischief in his eyes. It was hard to believe he was blind.
"Yes. Oh Jayfeather! There's no other feeling like it! She is the most beautiful cat in the whole forest, the whole world!" Lionblaze boasted,"Jayfeather, She's having my kits."
"Great now theres going to be more cats that can never be beat in battle!" Jayfeather joked.
"Have you ever loved anyone? I know you can't, being a medicine cat and all, but that doesn't mean you don't have feelings." Lionblaze wondered.
"No, I never loved anyone." Jayfeather dashed away as they reached the Shadowclan border.
The greasy needles under paw were slippery and sharp compared to the crunchy leaves and grasses of the Thunderclan forest. They approached the camp with caution, not knowing who they were going to find.
"Let me go first, you follow after." Lionblaze said to his brother. He carefully padded into the camp. He smelled faded fear scent and tufts of fur where on the ground. Blood spattered the ground and Lionblaze shuddered when he saw a dead she-cat laying in her own blood.
"Is anyone here? It's me, Lionblaze!" He added after yelling,"I've come to help you! Please show yourselves!"
Lionblaze was about to turn back when he heard a cracked voice," We're over here."
"Jayfeather, you can come in here! We're going to need you!" Lionblaze yelled as he ran towards the voice.
He located it behind a bramble thicket, with a small opening only big enough for one cat to fit through at a time. It must be a nursery, Lionblaze realized as the scent of milk hit the roof of his mouth. He stepped into the nursery with Jayfeather padding behind him.
"Please help us," Lionblaze finally saw who the voice belonged to. It was Tawnypelt, Bramblestar's sister, she had a kit with her that Lionblaze didn't recognize. Next to her, a scarred tortoiseshell was unconscious."Frogkit and Puddlesplash won't survive long without proper care fom a Medicine cat."Tawnypelt explained,"Frogkit's mother died, protecting him and his littermate, Snakekit. Snakekit must've been stolen, I couldn't find him."
"Whitewing found Snakekit, he's back at our camp now. Is this all that's left of your camp?" Lionblaze mewed.
"No, Oakfur, Rowanclaw, and Gingerpaw went out to catch us prey. Dawnflight went to scout the other camps, she should be back soon." Tawnypelt murmurmed.
Lionblaze turned around to talk to Jayfeather, but found his brother gone.
"He probably went to find Flamelight's herbs, once he saw Puddlesplash, Jayfeather took off out of the nursery." Tawnypelt commented,
"I didn't see anything. I could hear his breathing was shallow and I could smell the blood," Jayfeather hissed as he walked into the den.
"Sor-ee," Tawnypelt spat.
"Intruders! I smell intruders!" A warrior in the clearing of the Shadowclan camp howled. Lionblaze jumped out of the nursery, fur bristling. He was looking around for attackers when a fluffy apprentice knocked him off his paws.
"Get out of our camp," She hissed into his ear,"Or I'll rip you to shreads!" No sooner had she said the words did Lionblaze flip her over onto her back and held her down.
"We come in peace!" Lionblaze muffled as a brown tom launched himself on top of him. Again he flipped the Shadowclan warrior over."Stop, we've come to talk!" Lionblaze shouted at the tom, he recognised Rowanclaw the deputy.
"Then let go of me." Rowanclaw taunted.
"Rowanclaw stop! They really do want to talk. Please listen to what he has to say." Tawnypelt limped from the nurserywith Jayfeather hard on her paws.
"Get back inside, you'll open your wound again!" Jayfeather grabbed her scruff and pulled her inside.
"Fine we'll talk, but you have to let go of me." Rowanclaw mewed.
Lionblaze jumped off him. Rowanclaw rejoined his patrol and signaled wih a flick of his tail he should follow.
"Now tell us what you want." Oakfur spoke this time, sitting down to wash his paws.
"Starclan sent a message," Lionblaze spoke before Rowanclaw interupted.
"Starclan!" Rowanclaw scoffed," Starclan has abandon us."
"no they havn't." Lionblaze said with conviction."They fought beside us too, against the Dark Forest. Now listen to what I have to say. Starclan sent a message to Onestar and Reedwhisker to bring their clans to the Thunderclan camp. The clans will be safer together so the Dark forest can't pick us off one by one. We can work together until this war is over." Lionblaze hadn't thought about what to say, but the words semmed to tumble off his tongue.
"That's true, our clan would be safer with more cats to help protect us." the fluffy apprentice that attacked Lionblaze commented..
"Your right Gingerpaw, it would be safer, but would Thunderclan's territory have enough prey to support us all?" Rowanclaw wondered.
"There arn't as many cats in the other clans as you think. The clans have lost many cats, plus you could hunt in any territory while the clans are together." Lionblaze explained.
Rowanclaw closed his eyes and sighed. Then he opened his eyes and looked at Lionblaze."We will come back to your clan with you. We shall leave as soon as Dawnflight comes back." Rowanclaw sat down to clean himself, but Lionblaze wanted to know how bad the Dark Forest's attack was to Shadowclan.
"Are you going to the moonpool to recieve your nine lives?" Lionblaze asked Rowanclaw.
"Yes, I was going to leave in 2 nights. I don't know how were going to have a medicine cat though. Flameflight died protecting the nursery." Russetfur spoke in little more than a whisper. Lionblaze didn't know how to respond, surely Starclan would send them a sign about a medicine cat!

Chapt 11

Jayfeather scented 4 cats from another clan as he walked through the gorse tunnel. He reconized Willowshine instantly. He had walked with her and the other medicine cats every half moon. He also reconized Reedwhisker, the Riverclan deputy. One tom moved slowly, as if his joints were hurting. He must be an elder! Jayfeather thought. The fourth cat was a she-cat. She smelled of fish, like any Riverclan cat, but also milk. A kit! A kit, and elder, a medicine cat, and the deputy is all that survived of Riverclan? Then Jayfeather remembered Mistystar was in his den, still healing from her injuries. She only had a few bites and scratches, but she had sat on the moorland for three days without treatment and infection had set in.
"Cinderheart what's going on here?" Bramblestar padded over to his deputy.
"Reedwhisker explained that he went to the moonpool to recieve his nine lives few days ago, but Starclan told him to bring his clan here." Cinderpelt explained.
"His clan. They must think Mistystar is dead. Jayfeather please go and get Mistystar if she can come this far." Bramblestar trotted off to greet the Riverclan. Jayfeather padded to his den and called to Mistystar. He heard scuffling of paws then smelled her scent next to him.
"Mistystar, some of your clanmates are here. Starckan told them to come." Jayfeather explained.
"How many are still alive?" Mistystar asked, but without waiting for an answer she dashed past him and raced towards her clanmates. Jayfeather followed her, more casually. He was not used to the quiet of the camp. Kits used to get under his paws. Apprentices would scuffle in the clearing and elders would tell stories under the highledge. Now it was as if time stood still.
"May we stay in your clan, Bramblestar? If what Reedwhisker says is true, then it is the will of Starclan that we stay here." Jayfeather's voice flicked forward to hear Mistystar's words.
"Yes. Windclan is also coming to our camp tomorrow, Onestar said it was also the will of Starclan. That must mean Shadowclan should come here too. I will send Lionblaze and Jayfeather to Shadowclan to find any of Shadowclan members," He padded toward Jayfeather,"Will you take some herbs with you? We don't know what to expect to find when you get there."
"Yes, Bramblestar." Jayfeather nodded.
"Leave tomorrow at sunhigh, you need to sleep before this."

It was past moonhigh when Bramblestar padded on top of the highledge.
"Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the highledge for a clan meeting!" His words rang out against the stone walls.
"Can't a cat get a good nights sleep for once!" Jayfeather whispered to himself as he padded out of his den.
"As you can all see, Riverclan cats are staying in our camp for the time being. I think it is safest for all the clans if we stay together. We all know the war isn't over, and we don't know if the Dark forest will try and wipe us out one by one. There is safety in numbers. Also tomorrow, Windclan is joining us, they will arrive around sunhigh," Bramblestar paused to think," Jayfeather and Lionblaze are going to Shadowclan to look for any more survivors." Jayfeather could sense fear flowing off of Bramblestar. Jayfeather knew he was fearing for his sister, Tawnypelt. She left Thunderclan as an apprentice, many moons ago.
"Mistystar, you are welcome to share my den or the warriors den. Heavystep may sleep in the elders den and Whitewing and Dovepelt will look after the kit. Is she old enough to eat meat?" Bramblestar asked the Riverclan leader.
"Yes,Cedarkit is almost 6 moons." Mistystar answered smoothly.
"Then she may stay in the nusery until she is able to become an apprentice. Whitewing, do you know how old the kits you found are?"
"Cherrykit is old enough to be apprenticed. She's over 6 moons now. Snakekit looks to be 6 moons too. Leafkit and Twigkit are 3 moons and Maplekit is 2 moons old." Whitewing mewed warmly.
"Then I shall have Cherrykit's apprentice ceremony now. Cherrykit step forward." Jayfeather sensed shock coming from the tiny kit. Her mother Ferncloud would look down at her tiny kit happily from Starclan.
"Bumblestripe, you are now ready to take an apprentice. You will mentor Cherrypaw. Bumblestripe you have shown great courage in the battle and patience while Briarlight was still with us," Jayfeather remembered Bumblestripe's good natured sister. She had broken her back trying to save an elder while a tree fell in the clearing. She died the next leaf bare after she caught greencough.
"And now I ask you to pass down all you know to this apprentice."
Jayfeather knew enough that Cherrypaw would touch Bumblestipe's nose to hers.
"Cherrypaw! Cherrypaw! Cherrypaw!" A chorus of cheers broke out among the cats.
"Bramblestar, I would like to perform an apprentice ceremony for Cedarkit."Mistystar spoke after the cheers had stopped.
"Of course," Bramblestar stepped aside as Mistystar jumped onto the Highledge.
"Cedarkit, step forward. I am free of an apprentice since the loss of Fishpaw. I will mentor you and pass down all that I know until you become a warrior." Jayfeather was surprised she hadn't chose Reedwhisker as Cedarpaw's apprentice.
"Cedarpaw! Cedarpaw! Cedarpaw!" When the cheers stopped and cats had stopped walking up to greet the two new apprentices, Jayfeather slunk back to his den and slept.

Lionblaze padded through the gorse tunnel, tired after a long hunting patrol. He held a squirrel and a chaffinch in his mouth. He deposited his catch in the fresh kill  pile and took a vole for himself. He wasn't that hungry, but he had to keep his strength up for his clan. He saw Cinderheart padding up to him with a mouse in her jaws.
"Do you want to share?" She asked while sitting next to him.
"No thanks. I just ate. Has Bramblestar come back from the Moon Pool yet?" Lionblaze wanted to know if they had seen any Windclan cats on patrol.
"No, not yet. They should be back any time now. I think I hear a border patrol coming through the gorse tunnel," She got up after she added,"I want to see what they have to report. I'll be right back."
It was not a border patrol. The 4 cats that padded into the clearing were half starved and shaken. Lionblaze bolted upright and padded after Cinderheart.
"Reedwhisker, what are you doing here? Is your clan in trouble." Cinderheart tilted her head quizzically.
"I went to the moonpool the night of the battle when we couldn't find Mistystar. I went to get my nine lives, but they told me to come here with my clan, and stay together to end the war." He looked doubtful that Thunderclan  would accept them.
"This is not for me to decide, our leader is coming back from the moonpool as we speak." Cinderheart explained.
"Firestar is a fair leader, he will do what he thinks is right." One of the Riverclan cats spoke this time. Lionblaze didn't reconize the sleek tabby tom. His muzzle was twinged with gray and Lionblaze guessed he was an elder.
"Firestar is no longer our leader. He died saving me from Tigerstar. Bramblestar is our leader." Cinderheart mewed.
Lionblaze shuddered as he remembered Tigerstar thrashing Cinderheart side to side during the battle.
"All the clans will grieve for him, he saved all the clans from Tigerstar's treachery, twice now." Reedwhisker spoke again,"Bramblestar will make a fine leader. He has more loyalty to his clan and will defend it with tooth and claw. Who is your deputy?"
"I am. Bramblestar appointed me when he came back after getting his nine lives." Cinderheart murmured. As she spoke, 3 more cats entered the clearing.

Jayfeather padded into his den, exhausted by the days work. Crowfeather had left to sleep in the warrior's den and Leafpool was well enough to leave too. Now only Hollyleaf remained.
"Why are those three peices of mouse-dung in camp?" Hollyleaf spat.
"Who?" Jayfeather mumbled as he sat down to eat.
"Leafpool, Squirrelflight and Crowfeather." Hollyleaf stated flatly.
"Well, me and Lionblaze have made up with them, and so has Bramblestar with Squirrelflight." Jayfeather could smell his leader coming through the entrance to his den.
"Jayfeather, I have to go to the moonpool." Bramblestar had just been to the moonpool the day after the batlle, it was unusual to go again so soon, but Jayfeather understood his urgency.
"We shall leave tomorrow. May I put Leafpool in charge of the medicine den while I'm gone?" Jayfeather thought that if Leafpool could take on the responsibilty for a while, she might change her mind about staying as a warrior.
"Yes, we will need her skills in the next few moons. We will leave at sunhigh and I'm bringing Squirrelflight to guard us while we walk through Windclan terrritory. All the clans will still be shaken after the battle."
"Do you think we should stop at their camp, to see if they're all right?" Jayfeather wanted to see if their clan was worse than his.
"Maybe, if we see a patrol we could ask, but I doubt a clan would want to make itself look weak." Bramblestar replied, then turned away.

Jayfeather slept that night. He opened his eyes, and realized he could see. I'm dreaming. He smelled a familiar cat, then a blue she-cat approached him.
"Bluestar," Jayfeather whispered. Bluestar was the leader before Firestar, and she often came to meet Jayfeather in his dreams,"Bluestar, why have you come?"
"Beware the presence of a dead clanmate." Bluestar mewed, her eyes glazed over with fear.
"Wait! What do you mean?" As Jayfeather spoke, Bluestar  faded   into the  darkness.
Jayfeather woke as a tabby paw prodded his side.
"Come on Jayfeather, we have to leave now." Bramblestar sat and waited for him to awake.
"Okay, I'm up." Jayfeather got to his paws, still thinking about his dream. Beware a presense of a dead clanmate.  Surely a dead clanmate was no harm. Maybe it meant the Dark Forest was coming back! Jayfeather couldn't even think about it, that would be the end of Thunderclan! He would ask Starclan again at the moonpool and hope for some answers.

"Watch out for the dip in the moor." Bramblestar told Jayfeather as they walked to the Moonpool. They were on Windclan territory, but they hadn't seen a patrol yet.
"I know, I've been here before, you know."  Jayfeather spat. No sooner had he said it, that he heard a patrol coming. Bramblestar sat down and waited, knowing there was a patrol coming too.
"Nightpelt, Onestar, and Heathertail, I think." Jayfeather mewed. Suddenly a low growl cam from the heather in front of them.
"Step out and face us!" Jayfeather heard Onestar snarl.
"We come in peace! Were going to the Moonpool." Bramblestar stepped out into the clearing where the three Windclan cats stood.
"We are too, we want to see if Starclan can tell us where our clanmates are." Heathertail stepped forward.
"How many have you lost?" Jayfeather asked this time.
"All but us and Ashfoot, she has her kits back at camp."
"Your welcome to come on our territory to search for clanmates, where the battle was." Bramblestar mewed.
"Do you think there will be a Gathering? It's in 2 nights, you know." Onestar asked.
"Thunderclan will be there. We haven't lost as many as you, but Firestar and most of our senior warriors died. We lost all our apprentices and elders." Bramblestar whispered.
They stopped talking as they approached the Moonpool, and Jayfeather realized Squirrelflight hadn't talked the whole time they were there. She was still grieving for her father.

The curved path that led to the Moonpool was dimpled with the paws of the cats before the clans came. Jayfeather met them once, when he was Jay's Wing. He led them to the mountains, they were the ancestors of the Tribe of Rushing Water. They used to speak to Jayfeather, but they were silent now and it bothered Jayfeather. He lay next to Bramblestar and licked up the sparkeling water. He instantly felt the warmth sucked out of his body. He opened his eyes and saw he was in a clearing with cats with stars in there pelts. Starclan! A gray she-cat jumped out from the brambles, She had a flat face and ticks and fleas all over her. Yellowfang!
"Jayfeather, great trouble is coming to your clan."
"Great trouble has already come to our clan." Jayfeather spat.
"First I want to show you something," Yellowfang bounded away and slowed as they approached several cats on the ground."This is Windclan territory as you see it, and these are the cats you will find. They are alive, but not for long, you must help them and bring them back to your clan. There will be 5, who will bring the 4 to 1 and defeat the dead clanmate."
"I don't understand! Please come back!" Jayfeather pleaded as Yellowfang padded away into the heather. He was launched back to wakefullness. He got up as the others did and remembered what Yellowfang said about the cats on the moor. He bounded out of the cave to the moor.
"Jayfeather wait! What's going on?"  Bramblestar sped past him then blocked his path.
"Yellowfang said there are live cats on the moor! I have to get to them!" He jumped over Bramblestar and sped past him to the boulder that Yellowfang had shown him in his dream. To his suprise there was only 3 cats there, not the 5 Yellowfang promised. He checked each one and to his releif  they were all alive. Bramblestar Squirrelflight and the Windclan cats had caught up to him and were gasping for breath from the long run to get there.
"Onestar said that Starclan told them to join Thunderclan for the time being, so that they can survive. I allowed them. They will join us tomorrow at sunhigh with Ashfoot and her kits. Squirrelflight thinks it's a good idea, and I'm sure the clan will too." Bramblestar informed Jayfeather.
"Thank-you, Bramblestar. Windclan will be in your debt." Onestar dipped his head to the Thunderclan leader and the Windclan cats padded  back to their camp.
"How do you think Crowfeather will react to his former clanmates, especially Nightpelt?" Squirrelflight wondered. Nightpelt was Crowfeather's former mate, but he never loved her. He only took her as a mate to confirm his loyalty with Windclan.
"Hopefully, it won't be chatostrophic. Come, lets take these cats back to camp." Bramblestar suggested, seeing that Jayfeather was impaitiantly whipping his tail back and forth. They each grabbed a cat by the scruff and journeyed back towards camp. The sight that greeted them surprised the whole patrol.

Chapt 8

Dovepelt jerked in her sleep, the battle still vivid in her dreams. She was being attacked by Ivyshade, her own sister, while Foxleap defended her. She couldn't hurt her littermate so ran to fight a dark warrior and killed him witha single bite to the throat. She turned and saw Tigerstar lunge at Firestar. The ginger tabby fell ,and as Tigerstar stood over Firestar's body, the rasping of the ginger leader's breath could be heard growing shallower.

"I've waited a long time for this Kittypet." The broad shouldered cat drew up on his hind legs to do a death blow.

"Lionblaze," Dovepelt screeched,"Tigerstar has Fire-" Before Dovepelt could finish Lionblaze killed Breezepelt, who was attacking Crowfeather, and raced to Tigerstar. He was dodging the dead warriors and live warriors battling each other, when he realized that this is what Tigerstar had been training live warriors for. He saw the shining pelts of Starclan fighting against the mangy pelts of the warriors from the Place of No Stars.

As he jumped onto the back of Tigerstar, he heard the surprised screech that he had hoped for.

"So, you still believe in the prophecy?" Tigerstar said in a sneer, "I'll show you that you can be killed!"

"Not if I can help it!" Lionblaze scoffed. They tussled in the grass and Lionblaze felt deep claws rip open his shoulder. Soon Cinderheart joined him but Lionblaze pushed her aside.

"This is something I have to do by myslef." He whispered gently. The lok of pure love she gave him told him that she felt the same for him as he did for her."I love you" he mewed.

"I love you too, but hurry Tigerstar is getting back up." She urged. Tigerstar staggered to his paws. "So, you love her." He mewed with a slight threat hidden in his words. But Lionblaze didn't understand. "Yes." He mewed firmly. Lionblaze drew back to attack again, but Tigerstar was faster. Tigerstar sped past him, leaving Lionblaze stunned. He knew Tigerstar would never flee from a battle. He turned around as he heard a shrill scream. He shuddered inwurdly as he saw Cinderheart thrashing side to side as Tigerstar gripped his massive teeth in her neck. He reached them as he saw a ginger pelt speed pass him! Firestar! His leader had recovered from losing his 8th life and had grabbed Tigerstar by the hindleg. Tigerstar let go of Cinderheart, who flopped to the ground. He raced over to her and saw her chest rise and fall. Shes alive! Lionblaze thought triumphiantly! But he knew he had to get her to JayFeather. He gently grabbed her scruff and dragged her to the boulder where Jayfeather was keeping hurt cats. Then Dustpelt came and grabbed her. "Go," He murmured gently,"your the best fighter in the clan, they need you. I'll take her to Jayfeather." Lionblaze spoke a quick thanks and dashed back to the last place he saw Firestar. He saw Tigerstar under the ginger tabby's paws, scrabbling weakly. He heard Firestar say a few breif words,"This is for all the cats you killed, for all the lives you ruined." But Tigerstar didn't even flinch at the words.

"You would never kill me Kittypet." He sneered. He started coughing feebly, and as Lionblaze watched from where he stood, Firestar drew back his paw, claws unsheathed, and cut Tigerstar's throat open. Tigerstar's eyes grew wide with rage and hatred before they glazed over, no sign of the evil light they used to hold. Lionblaze rushed to his leaders side as Firestar collapsed. For the first time Lionblaze realized how much blood he had lost and how torn up he looked.

"Hurry! We have to get you to Jayfeather!"Lionblaze grabbed his leaders scruff.

"Stop, Lionblaze. I'm dying. I know it and you know it. But don't worry Brambleclaw will take over and I know he will take care of you and the rest of Thunderclan." He slowed as more blood trickled from his wounds,"I'll never be more proud of you. You saved the clan from more things than I've ever known a cat to do. The 3 of you, Jayfeather, Dovepelt and you, have saved this forest from the evils of Tigerstar.

I want you to help them even more with your powers, not just Thunderclan, but all the other clans too. And be kind to Squirrelflight and Leafpool, they have done nothing but kindness to you, and without Leafpool, then we wouldn't have you and Jayfeather." He added as Lionblaze opened his mouth to object," I know what she did with Crowfeather was foolish, but she has done many great things in her life too. And lastly, I want you to know that I am not sad to leave the forest. I have just banished the greatest evil this forest has ever seen." Firestar closed his eyes and drew in one last shallow breath and his body gave one last spasm, then lay still. He turned to fight again and saw an orange pelt dive into battle with him. "Firestar!" Lionblaze said, amazed that he would see his former leader now.

"Starclan is fighting this battle too you know," He said with a twinkle in his eye, "now no more talk, go and help your clan mates." She had watched the whole battle, then turned back to fight.

Chapt 7

Lionblaze sunk into his den, exhausted by the days work, and still aching from the battle a few days before.

He had gone on dawn patrol with Dustpelt, Foxleap, and Leafpool. They approached the Windclan border with caution. Crowfeather had come the day before, and Windclan had blamed them. Dustpelt had gone to mark the border and scented a strange scent. Doveplet came racing through the trees as they approached the forest screaming about how they were here now and that they were rising. Dustpelt sent her back to camp, but she wouldn't be quiet. She snuck out of camp with Foxleap and raced down to where Lionblaze was before- the Windclan border. They found Tigerstar and his army talking about attacking at dusk. Dovepelt and Foxleap raced back to camp to warn the clan, and all the other clans. Firestar ordered Brambleclaw to go to Shadowclan, Lionblaze to Riverclan, and Jayfeather to Windclan. He didn't want to send a warrior to Windclan, so they would not seem threatening. What Lionblaze couldn't figure out was  where Lilyshade was, and Riverclan reported of 3 of their warriors were missing too. All the clans decided to meet before dusk at the Thunderclan/Windclan border. All the warriors had come from each clan, even the queens and some of the kits that couldn't be left alone. Elders helped to drag wounded cats to the medicine cats, but the Dark warriors attacked them too. Lionblaze raced to save his father as his half brother, Breezepelt, attacked him. Lionblaze killed him as he heard Dovepelt call out to tell him Tigerstar had Firestar in his grasp. Lionblaze attacked Tigerstar letting Firestar rest as he lost his 8th life. Cinderheart had come to help him but Lionblaze pushed her aside, telling her he loved her. Tigerstar had heard this and instead went to kill Cinderheart, but Firestar attacked him again, eventually killing him. Firestar died too, from his injuries. Firestar then joined the battle as a Starclan Warrior.

Chapt 6

Jayfeather stopped and sniffed the body below him. Not a clanmate. Then he moved on to repeat this task on the next cat. He felt his hackles raise and his fur stand on end. This was no ordinary cat, it was Tigerstar! He could tell that he was no-longer living, if that was even tthe phrase. This broad shouldered warrior had been dead before Jayfeather was born, yet he still had plotted to kill Firestar seasons after his death. Jayfeather didn't know where Tigerstar would go now, back to the Dark Forest, or someplace worse?
"Lionblaze! Come and dispose of this fox-hearted peice of mouse-dung!" Jayfeather mewed to his brother then walked away from the murderous warrior. He stopped at the next body and a different emotion surged through him. But it didn't come from him, he felt it across the clearing as Dovepelt pelted across to see the body he was stading over. Unconditional love flowed off her.
"Oh Foxleap, what will I do without you?" Dovepelt murmured. Jayfeather once again jumped into her memories. He was eating next to a red tabby. He looked into his eyes and saw love and wanting. He flashforward and jumped out a bush to tackle the same cat, but he had grown since before. These are her memories with him... They wrestled playfully in the dirt before slinking off together, tails twined together. Shock hit him like a wave.
"Your having his kits..." Jayfeather whispered.
"He would've been a great father." Dovepelt said, half to herself.
Jayfeather padded away. not knowing what else to say. He soon tripped over someone else. Mistystar! Her small rising and falling of the chest told him she was still alive, but only barely.
"Bumblestripe! Someone! Help me get Mistystar back to camp!" He hissed. Bumblestripe and Cinderheart raced past him to grab Mistystar's scruff and hauled  her in the forest towards camp. Jayfeather raced up to follow them.

Chapt 5

Dovepelt was not excited to be chosen to go on survivor patrol. She was afraid she would find Ivyshade. Alive. Ever since she saw her sister pelting towards her, claws unsheathed and undisguised hatred in her eyes, she was scared of her. Ivyshade had tried to kill her and Dovepelt knew she would never hurt her sister, no matter if she was evil or not. If she found her alive, she would have to watch another warrior kill her.
"If we find her, I will feed her deathberries." Dovepelt didn't realize Jayfeather had been reading her thoughts."It will be the quickest and less painful way, but I'm not doing this for her, it's for you." Dovepelt was shocked the emotion that was seen in his blue eyes, it was hard to believe he was blind.
They soon neared the place where the battle was fought, on the border between Thunderclan and Windclan.Cats of all clans lay still, and eerie sight  for Dovepelt. Soon the patrol scattered to search for cats. Dovepelt approached a dark ginger tom and gasped in horror. Firestar! Her beloved leader was laying, covered in dust. She layed next to him and started licking him clean. She would take him back to camp so the clan could have a proper burial ceremony for him. Once he was clean she got up and started looking for others. She broke into a dead sprint when she saw a white cat raze it's head.
"Whitewing!" Dovepaw choked out her name. The white queen was covered in blood, but still caring for kits, as though nothing had happened. Dovepelt noticed that her own kit, Dawnkit, was not with her. But she did have 4 other kits suckling from her.
"Jayfeather! I found Whitewing! Come quick!" Dovepelt shouted to the medicine cat crouched above a gray tom then ran towards her, tripping over cats every few steps."Whitewing, whose kits are these?"
The white queen looked up at her,"Their mothers had died, protecting them from Darkstripe and some cat I didn't reconize. I was helping them, but some cat, Brokentail I think, got behind us and got Dawnkit..." She started wimpering," I couldn't save her, but when I was the last queen left, and Darkstripe was gone, I took them all under a yew bush. I knew no one would try to come here." A yew bush grew deathberries, Dovepaw remebered  Jayfeather warning the clan moons before to never eat the red berries that grew on it.
"Come on, Brackenfur will help you and the kits back to camp." Jayfeather murmured as he wrapped her in cobwebs. "When you get back, tell Bramblestar to send more warriors. Were going to need more help."
"Brambl- You mean Firestar is dead?" Whitewing shook with grief. Realization hit Dovepelt with a pang. Of course Whitewing wouldn't know who lived or died, she hadn't been back to camp in 3 days!

Chapt 4

Jayfeather sensed that Hollyleaf was anxious, and he jumped into her mind. He saw himself run into a cave and thrown into darkness. He woke up in a dark forest with two big cats standing above him. They looked shocked to see him. He reconized the smell and the two tabby figures standing above him. It was Tigerclaw and Hawkfrost!
"Welcome to the Dark Forest." Tigerclaw sneered.
Jayfeather was thrown back into blindness and realized that only a few heartbeats had went by. He listened to what Hollyleaf was saying once again, "Stoneteller said I could stay as long as I wanted..." Jayfeather was too shocked to listen any more. Hollyleaf was lying! His own sister was sent to the Dark Forest when she died. No, that couldn't of happened, she is alive now! Jayfeather shook his head in confusion. Her story didn't make sense, and neither did her thoughts. He was utterly confused.
"Lionblaze are you out here?" Bramblestar's head poked out of the bracken and looked shocked to see Hollyleaf. "Hollyleaf! You're awake!" he rushed to her and licked her like a father, as though he never knew she wasn't.
"Lionblaze, I need you guys back at camp," He told the three of them, though he addressed Lionblaze,"We need to start looking for survivors." They made their way back to camp and Cinderheart was already making patrols.
"Jayfeather I want you to go with the patrol looking for survivors, you may want to take a few herbs with you. On this patrol I want Brackenfur, Dovepelt, Lionblaze, Crowfeather, and Squirrelflight. If you find any survivors, be it from any clan, as long as they were fighting on our side, take them back."
"What if we find any survivors that weren't on out side?" A voice in the background asked, Jayfeather couldn't place whose voice it was.
This time Bramblestar spoke,"If you find any traitors or Dark Forest Warriors," his eyes darkend,"Kill them."

Chapt 3

It was past sunhigh before Lionblaze entered Jayfeather's den, his fur itching with worry for his sister. Jayfeather was checking on Hollyleaf, her eyes milky with infection. Jayfeather glanced blindly at Lionblaze then at Hollyleaf. Holyleaf looked up, her tail curling in excitement for her brother. She got to her paws, her legs shaking unsteadily, Lionblaze rushed forward to give her his shoulder for support.
"Let's talk outside." he nodded to Jayfeather and the three of them walked into the forest.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"We thought you were dead! How did you survive the tunnels?" Jayfeather questioned Hollyleaf as they left camp.
"The tunnel entrance collapsed, not the whole tunnel. I was already in the tunnels when it collapsed behind me." Hollyleaf stated flatly, her paws fumbling with a small pebble.
"Where did you go? Why did you come back?" Lionblaze couldn't hold in his questions.
"I..." Hollyleaf stammered,"I went to the old forest." Jayfeather and Lionblaze were stunned. Everyone knew that the old forest was many moons journey away.
"How?" Lionblaze couldn't even imagine the journey, or how she got there.
"At first, I went to Sun-Drown Place to find Midnight," Midnight was a badger who helped all the clans find their home, many moons ago."When I got there, I found Midnight, dead." Lionblaze and Jayfeather let out a gasp. They had met Midnight when they were apprentices, and had both held high respect for her. "I was very tired and I slept in her cave. The next day I set out for the mountains, and got there half a moon later. Stoneteller said I could stay there for as long as I wanted, but I said I was on an urgent mission and I needed to speak to Stormfur." Hollyleaf paused to think," I asked him how to get to the old forest and Stormfur said I was crazy for trying to go there, but he said to follow the sun to were it rises and I should get there in about two moons." Lionblaze was listening intently, but as he gazed over to Jayfeather, he saw his brother gasp in shock.

Chapt 2

Jayfeather looked up. He smelled fresh blood in the clearing. He dropped the poultice he was making and ran out into the clearing. Cats were gathered around Lionblaze, mewing nervously.
"...was dead!" A cat chatted excitedly.
"...into a tunnel after a squirrel,"
"...and she told all the clans the biggest secret the clans had ever known," Another added mildly.
Jayfeather snorted,"Move out of my way," He pushed Thornclaw out of his way. he stopped dead in his tracks. The scent was familiar. The scent was his sister's.
He nosed her fur, blood dry on the ends.  He listened quietly t her breath; she was barely breathing.
"We need to get her to my den," As he spoke, Lionblaze dragged her to Jayfeather's den. The group of cats followed intently like they were stalking prey.
Jayfeather whipped around angrily,"Everyone who is not needed, go do something else!" Jayfeather yelled. The cats scattered. He put his paw on her chest and sniffed her all over. Her ears were warm with fever, she probably has an infection, Jayfeather thought gravely.

Chapt. 1

"I say this before the eyes of Starclan so to approve my choice of deputy," Bramblestar's voice rang out over the clearing, "Cinderheart, you have lost much in the battle of the Darkforest, but you have gained knowledge over time. Do you accept the responsibility of deputy?"
"I do," The gray tabby she-cat mewed.

Three days had passed in the clearing as Thunderclan recovered from the deadly battle with the Dark Forest. Slowly but steadily the clan was recovering, but so many had died; Graystripe, Cloudtail, Firestar, Brightheart, Foxleap, Dustpelt, and so many other noble warriors.
Lionblaze rushed to greet his mate, Cinderheart, and twined his tail with hers.
"I'm so proud of you," He murmured gently into her ear. Cinderheart looked up proudly into his amber eyes, her soft gaze hardening with confidence. Her sweet scent swirled around him and her tongue rasped gently on his muzzle.
"I have to go," Cinderheart murmured, flicking her tail gently over his ear.
Lionblaze padded away slowly, almost forgetting that a deadly battle occurred only days ago. Instinctivly he trotted to the medicine den, squeezing between the ferns and brambles. Jayfeather backed out in front of him, stopping Jayfeather in his tracks.
Lionblaze opened his mouth to speak, but Jayfeather whipped around, and gazed boldly into his brother's eyes. Not for the first time, Lionblaze shied away from his brother's intense unseeing gaze.
"What do you want?" Jayfeather spat, his paws scraping against the pebbles in exhaustion.
"Did you hear?" Lionblaze mewed excitedly,"Cinderheart is the new deputy!"
"No sorry, I was too busy tending to the injured to listen to the clan meeting," Jayfeather retorted irritably. Lionblaze nudged his brother gently.
"Relax Jayfeather," Lionblaze mewed, then whispered slowly,"How is everyone?"
Jayfeather sighed,"Ferncloud keeps opening her wounds and with her age I don't think she is going to make it through tonight, Icewing and Poppyfrost died," Lionblaze gasped,"But I think Crowfeather is going to live," Lionblaze nodded slowly, his father had joined Thunderclan after Breezepelt had tried to kill him.
It was eventually though, that Crowfeather had killed his son when the dark tom had tried to kill Leafpool.
"How is Leafpool doing?" Lionblaze murmured.
"Fine. She only has that bite wound from Breezepelt and I'm making sure no infection sets in," Jayfeather blinked.
Lionblaze nodded and turned back to the clearing, patrols would be sent out soon. He pushed past a few cats who's wounds weren't as deep as the others and waited for Cinderheart's instructions.
Lionblaze watched his mate's tail fluff up in awkwardness, clearly uneasy about how to organize the patrols. Lionblaze nodded to her, hopefully to give her some confidence. She took a breath and began to announce patrols. But another cat interrupted her.
"Lionblaze!" Lionblaze jerked his head towards the camp entrance. The large gray tabby tom by the name of Bumblestripe was dragging in a black lump of fur. Lionblaze ran toward him, unsure of his concern. He tilted his head, then gasped. This wasn't any black lump, it was his sister! Hollyleaf!

   PROLOGUE-

And as Tigerstar stood over Firestar's body, the rasping of the ginger leader's breath could be heard growing shallower.
"Starclan is fighting this battle too you know," He said with a twinkle in his eye, "now no more talk, go and help your clan mates."
